Sahara India Pariwar’s support for the meritorious students of Low Income Group

Sahara India Pariwar is a major India based Conglomerate which is founded and managed by Subrata Roy Sahara. This conglomerate has diverse business interests like Financial Services, Mutual Funds, Media & Entertainment, Tourism, Infrastructure and Housing, consumer products, Real estate, Life Insurance, Housing Finance, Hospitality etc. Sahara India Pariwar is well occupied in various social welfare projects for the betterment of the society.

Recently under its Social Welfare Programme of Scholarship scheme for the meritorious students of low Income group, provided scholarship to 445 meritorious students of Pune district who belongs to low income group of the society. Out of these 445 students, 330 students received scholarship at graduation level and 145 students at post graduation level.

According to this scheme, the meritorious students of low income group at graduation level will be provided Rs. 750 per month as scholarship whereas meritorious students at post graduation level will be provided Rs. 1500 per month. Out of the 300 meritorious students who are provided scholarship at graduation level, 58% are male and 42% females. Whereas 145 meritorious students who are provided scholarship at post graduation level includes 48% males and 52% females.

This scholarship scheme for meritorious students of low income group of Pune is a part of one of the 4 welfare schemes that were publicized by Subrata Roy Sahara. The other three schemes announced by him are Public health service in the rural areas of Pune through 9 Mobile Health Unit (MHU) vans, financial support for the capable sportsperson of Pune District who have performed at state, national and international level and financial support of Rs. one Lakh to the family of the residents of Pune who has encountered accidental death.

The eligibility for this scholarship was that the student must be citizen to India and permanent resident of Pune or continuously residing in Pune for the last 5 years. Students who have secured 70% and above in class 12th and graduation level only, were eligible for the scholarship.

This event was graced by some of the reputed personalities like Dr. Arun Adsool, Pro Vice Chancellor of Pune University as Guest of honour, Mr. Ramchandra Kondalkar, Additional S.P. (CID Crime) as the chief guest, Shri Ashok Roy Choudhury, Executive Director worker of Sahara India Pariwar and Kumkum Roy Choudhury, Deputy Director worker of Sahara India Pariwar. The Sahara India Pariwar’s initiative towards the betterment of the society is worth praising.
