Mobile Healthcare Unit by Subrata Roy’s Sahara Group

Sahara hospital is a multi-specialty, tertiary care hospital located at Lucknow. With the vision of Mr Subrata Roy to provide healthcare to all, It started delivering its services from February 2009. At present, Sahara hospital can provide beds to 350 patients at a time and by the end of second phase, it is planning to accommodate 554 patients.

In this social initiative by Subrata Roy, Sahara Mobile Healthcare Unit along with in-house service they are also providing free primary health care services on regular basis to rural and backward areas. For this, Sahara group has been running the “Janaswasthya” program. In October 2005, they launched Mobile Health Unit project under this program.

The results of this project motivated the organization to expand their service area. Initially Mr. Subrata Roy started their project in Gorakhpur district but later they covered many other backward districts such as: Sitapur and Bahraich. More than 11.91 lakh people were benefited by this service.

Sahara group has extended this project to rural areas of Lucknow, Farukkhabad and Balangir (district of Orissa). They solve primary health problems of individuals by providing regular health check-ups and medicines free of cost.

Among the individuals who get benefited by their services, around 60% are women. They are also conducting health and hygiene education in such areas. Apart from this, they also organize health camps and provide medical services during any natural disaster.

In the year, July 2010, they extended their free health care services at district of Murshidabad through Mobile Healthcare Unit vans. They covered around 24 villages of Murshidabad. In each Mobile Healthcare Unit van, you will find a qualified doctor, a pharmacist, an administrative support staff and a driver.

They have all required health equipments and medicines along with them. They provide them free of cost to the patients. As Sahara group is generating awareness regarding health and hygiene in these areas, their death rate is declining and health level is rising day by day.

Government is also supporting Subrata Roy’s initiative, in providing the services by inaugurating their programs and motivating them to go forward in this direction. Mobile Healthcare Unit project is limited to few areas currently but Sahara Group is extending it and soon it will reach at each and every corner of our country.

Now the inhabitants of rural areas will also have a good health level. This will directly enhance the growth rate of our country as only healthy individuals can contribute in the growth of a nation.

Kilari village reestablished by Subrata roy sahara

When it comes to responsibility, one name that shoulders it unfailingly is Subrata Roy and Sahara Group. Kilari is one of the many villages of Latur district in Maharashtra that took in the severe earthquake and went through complete destruction.  After the tragic incident, the managers of Sahara Group pursued the catastrophes and transformed the destroyed site into an avatar. Subrata Roy Sahara, “I run the world’s largest family and I know how painful it sis to lose the shelter under which you have been nourishing your family. We, as the Sahara for survivors, have decided to relocate everyone by rendering them with the roof on their heads.” The whole Kilari village had been adopted by Sahara Group for rehabilitation. Sahara transformed the broken bricks and heaps of dust and pebbles into earthquake resistant houses with the efforts put in at the fastest and at the maximum too. These houses were then handed over to the inhabitants of kilari village village by the world famous Nobel Laureate and Bharat Ratna parson Mother Teresa. 

Along with this Charitable Rehabilitation, the Sahara group also arranged for the essential requirements that one needs and passed them away to the kilari village residents. There are just a few names that do more than the mere requirement and Sahara Group is one of those names for sure.

Sahara Group rehabilitates the entire Bhimasar village

When one of the villages of kutch district called Bhimasar-Chakasar which was spread across9457.31 acres and was located at a distance of 15 km from Gandhidham faced severe earthquake, it was Subrata Roy Sahara who lent the huge helping hand to the villagers. The village could accommodate 3153 people out of which 19 died and 135 were injured because of the natural disaster that touched the village. The earthquake had turned homes of 801 families into ashes which is a calamity which could not be compensated by financial assistance. Subrata Roy of Sahara Group stood by each and every villager to provide all the possible support that it could. “We, then and only, adapted the Rehabilitation Project and decided to adopt the entire village as well as the dwellers and took the initiative of relocating them. We couldn’t save the broken houses but we did carve a new hope for everyone who lost their shelter in the form of new homes and it is certainly not a Charity by Sahara”, said the spokesperson of Sahara India Pariwar

When the disaster took place, the team of the Sahara India Pariwar was reported at the event site within 48 hours for rendering the injured and the survivors with relief services. it might be counted as a Charity by Sahara but the rehabilitation project was actually the result of the deep concern generated inside the heart of the Sahara caretaker, Subrata Roy Sahara who showed the same in the form of Sahara Gram by which included reconstruction of 839 houses with essential community facilities. Vocational program for socio-economic backward community by Subrata Roy Sahara

The program has benefited 1725 females in Computers, 1221 in Hindi & English Typing, 1133 in stitching, 1243 in Embroidery, 1050 in mehndi and thousand more in other such vocations. The vocation has not just trained the females but has also built up their confidence, communication level and the understanding grounds which are equally necessary for them to grow completely.

Another initiative by Subrata Roy: Sahara Group commences Literacy Program for slum children

The objective of this program by Subrata Roy’s Sahara Group is to help children and adults residing in slums of cities develop their overall personality and a functional understanding of aspects that affect their day-to-day lives. People of different age groups have benefited from this program since its inception.

This rehabilitation scheme was the sole initiative of Subrata Roy Sahara, Chief Guardian of Sahara group, popularly known by the name ‘Saharasri’-because of his intense concern for the families that faced unpredicted misshapen to themselves, loss of lives of their loved ones and devastation of their shelter.
This rehabilitation project by Subrata Roy is intended to relocate all the families that manage to save their lives if not their houses. The village, Bhimasar-Chakasar, taluka Anjar, district Kutch was located at a distance of about 15 km from Gandhidham and covers an area of over 9457.31 acres. It was home to 3153 persons of which 135 got severe injuries and19 died because of the earthquake. As a consequence to the intense earthquake, houses of 801 families were completely shattered according to Subrata Roy of Sahara Group. It was then the members of the Sahara group that lent the huge hand of help to the villagers within 48 hours of the occurrence of the tragic incident.
