Collaboration of Sahara India Power and Korea East-West Power to set up a power plant in India

Sahara India Power and Korea East-West Power have recently signed an agreement for developing power plants in India with a capacity of around 6,000MW in total. In cooperation with each other, both would contribute in tariff-based bidding for ultra mega power projects and also come across other opportunities in India. The planned 6,000-MW plants would embrace setting up of a 1,320 MW power Plant in Titlagarh, Orissa. This plant found on super-critical technology would be urbanized with a deal of about Rs8, 000 crore, cleared Sahara Power India in a statement.

Ashok Bhargava, the CEO of Sahara India Power, whispered "We are pleased to unite with Korea East-West Power Co for setting up 6,000 MW power projects in India. The involvement will bring in first-class high-end technical progression in power generation...,”.

Lee Gil-Gu, the President and CEO of Korea East-West Power Co alleged that the company is pleased to be an associate with Sahara India Power and would also convey its worldwide proficiency in power generation.

The unit is one of the five power producers spun-off from KEPCO which is expanded as Korea Electric Power Corp. Indian power sector is projected to notice a power addition of over 80,000 MW through 12th plan period from 2012 to 2017, with important role from private players.
Sahara India Power is the division of the expanded Sahara India Pariwar which is managed by Subrata Roy being the chairman. Subrata Roy has the experience 32 years in business development and 18 years experience in real estate business. The corporation has a dream to be a power efficient major in generation, distribution &transmission of power and growth of green energy infrastructure internationally. Sahara India Power Corporation Limited (SIPCL) will put in Rs 8000 crore on its projected 1320 mw power project in Bolangir district at Titlagarh. Talking to the reporters, SIPCL chief executive officer Ashok K. Bharagava held that the initial unit of the scheme will be finished by the year 2014 and the next unit will get ready a month later. The anticipated plant will be based on environmentally efficient supercritical technology and operate with effluents of less than 50% of the limits fixed by the union ministry of environment and forests.
According to Mr. Bharagava, the proposed plant will be support the advanced technology of world with contribution of Korea East-West Power Co Ltd, a corporation under the Korea Government. The facility will work with lofty pressure and elevated temperature thus dropping the consumption of coal. He also said that the chimney with the height of 275 meter will maintain clean environment. The anticipated plant necessitates land of 950 acres. The publicly owned Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (IIDCO) has been assigned the job of land acquisition.
